BTEC LEVEL 2 VEHICLE IMMOBILISATION

 

Introduction
This Five -day course is designed to assist companies in the provision of basic job training and to develop a uniform standard across the industry. The course content complies with the recommended training syllabus in the British Standard for BS7499:2002 – Vehicle Immobilisers. It will also provide the underpinning knowledge required to achieve standard recognised by the Security Industry Authority. The course is available to companies either through attendance on courses run by a recognised training provider.

Who Will Benefit?
This BJT is appropriate to new entrants to the industry; people transferring from other security functions, as well as those whose job includes some security elements.

Part 1 - Knowledge based training and assessment

This section of the course covers the following topics:

  • Introduction to wheel clamping and removals
  • Introduction to the legislation relating to vehicle immobilising (Private Security Industry Act 2001) and the tools used to immobilise a vehicle
  • Signs, lines and enforcement vehicles
  • Vehicle registration marks
  • Health and Safety
  • When to clamp and when to remove vehicles
  • Vehicle tow away
  • Completing paperwork
  • Practical case studies (clamping, removal and paperwork)
  • Use of photography
  • The payment process
  • Procedures for start and end of shift
  • Radio operations
  • Discretionary parking
  • Standards of individual behaviour for vehicle immobilisers and customer care

Part 2 - Practical scenario based training and assessment

This section of the course covers the following topics:

  • Avoiding conflict and reducing risk
  • Defusing conflict
  • Resolving conflict
  • Post incident considerations and learning from conflict

Tutor notes, student handouts and a PowerPoint presentation
Training record books are also available

Course Outcomes
On completion of this course, candidates will have achieved the required level of knowledge and understanding in the areas listed in the modules above. You will also be awarded a Level 2 Certificate in Security Operations.

Assessment
The assessment is by way of one eternally set and marked Multiple choice examinations. And one practical exercise which is marker internally.
